Program Officers for Y&G 2024-2025

Youth Mayor – Ryan Ting, BASIS DC
While I love and am interested in Engineering, Math, and Physics, I am invested in my local government, having served on Representative Allister Chang’s Literacy Advisory Board (https://osse.dc.gov/literacytaskforce) and being a Student Representative on the DC State Board of Education. I am the DC YMCA Youth and Government 2024–2025 Youth Mayor because I am passionate about improving my community. As Youth Mayor, I have the responsibility of leading our over one hundred delegates from all 8 wards as they practice Bill-Writing and Mock Trial as well as pitch their ideas to policy makers. I have also completed an internship at the Cantellus Group, allowing me to analyze legislative developments in Artificial Intelligence and Data Privacy internationally. In my work on the DC State Board of Education, I seek to promote legislation which advance after-school programs, Career & Technical Education, and Digital Literacy.

Youth City Council Chair – Victoria, BASIS DC
Hi! My name is Victoria Cole and I am the 2024-2025 Youth City Council Chair. I have been a part of the BASIS DC Youth and Government delegation for the past 3 years and have loved every second of it. I love art history and my favorite period of art is Romanticism. When I’m not at school, I’m Vice President of my school’s Art History club, an executive officer for Model UN and the President of my school’s Mock Trial club. I value collaboration and fruitful debate when problem-solving and advocating for real change. I hope to execute these values during my time as Youth City Council Chair.

Youth Superintendent of the Board of Education – Dawn Drake, School Without Walls
